Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture
What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete and comprehensive system of health care whose roots can be traced back thousands of years. Best known for its treatment of pain through the use of acupuncture, the modern-day practice of TCM also includes herbal medicine, diet therapy, tuina (Chinese massage), and various forms of therapeutic exercises: Tai chi, Qi gong and meditation. The practice of acupuncture has spread to many countries and is becoming a truly global system of health care, whose value is recognized by the World Health Organization.
TCM is used to treat a wide variety of acute and chronic health concerns. It also helps people maintain good health and prevents the development of conditions which causes disease.
According to TCM principles, illnesses are the result of imbalances in the body. These problems may be caused by a blockage of the free flow of Qi (vital energy) and blood, or by an imbalance between the components of Qi, yin and yang. Yin and Yang are two kinds of energy, with different qualities, that should work in harmony to balance the body's internal environment and maintain healthy organ function. Removing blockages of qi and regulating yin and yang improves the function of all the body's processes and its resistance to disease.
What is Acupuncture?
By inserting sterile needles at specific points along energy pathways, called meridians, the body's energy is rebalanced and strengthened. Since acupuncture promotes the body`s natural healing ability, most conditions can be corrected or improved over time. As a holistic medicine, acupuncture is not only used to correct physical and internal organ imbalance patterns, but also to address mental and emotional issues.
The following is a partial list of the most common ailments which respond well to Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine as recommended by the World Health Organization:
Allergies Menstrual pain and Issues
Anxiety Menopausal Symptoms
Asthma Neck and Back pain
Chronic Fatigue Nerve problems
Digestive Issues Tendonitis and sports injuries
